About Long Wang
I’m an engineering leader who has been building backend, search, and AI systems since 2008. I currently serve as Department R&D Lead at TAL Education Group (TAL), where I lead teams and turn technology strategy into reliable delivery. My work spans backend infrastructure, distributed systems, Golang, big data, developer tools, and applied AI.
Previously, I held engineering and management roles at Baidu, Tencent, and Sogou, with a focus on search engines and backend system architecture. I also co-founded the programming education company BestCode as Co-founder & CTO, gaining hands-on experience building a company and its technology from zero to one. I hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Tianjin University.
Work Experience
My career began as a Senior Engineer at Baidu’s Vertical Search department and Tencent, focusing on search engine performance and relevance optimization. I later advanced to Backend R&D Team Lead for the Search App department at Sogou, accumulating significant technical leadership and team management experience. Driven by a passion for technology and education, I co-founded the programming education company BestCode, serving as CTO responsible for the overall technology direction and R&D management. Currently, I lead a team as Department R&D Lead at TAL Education Group (TAL), driving technological innovation and project delivery. Prior to my professional career, I gained foundational experience through internships at Baidu and the Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA) Natural Language Computing (NLC) group during my graduate studies, focusing on NLP research and development.
